Luca Marchiani

We are very fortunate to have Luca Marchiani traveling with us on our journey through Tuscany.  A native of Florence, he has a wealth of local knowledge and will be one of our drivers.  He speaks excellent English and has an infectious passion for food and wine.  Please read more about Luca below.

 

My name is Luca Marchiani and I am a  30 year-old professional Sommelier from Florence. My deep passion for wine brought me to become an AIS Sommelier in 2017. My passion for wine took me to Parma, where I studied for 9 months under Master Sommeliers at the famous ALMA school. I love new adventures and after graduating, I worked in the best italian Wine Shop in Antwerp (Belgium). Specializing in wine communication, I’ve managed an important Masterclass in Tirana (Albania) presenting the amazing wines of Tenuta di Fiorano with the Prince Boncompagni Ludovisi. Recently, I’ve started a new project organizing and curating high quality food and wine events where I introduce wine and food to people searching for the best pairings.  In February 2020, I was awarded 3rd place in the “Best Sommelier of Chianti Classico” competition. This contest was created by the Consorzio of Chianti Classico and AIS Toscana. Also, in February 2020, I formed a group called “Los Tres Amigos” where, along with 2 of my sommelier friends, we search for small, family-owned, quality driven wine producers and introduce them to our US based importer – Queen of Wines located in Durham, NC.

I am also a certified Emergency Services (ambulance) driver for the city of Florence. Last but not least, I love to write about wine and you read some of my articles on my website (www.themarchian.com).
